Sunstone Montessori Parent Education with Sarah Andrews: "Punish by Rewards"'

Sarah Andrews reveals how we are actually punishing our children when we extrinsically motivate them with incentives, enticing goodies, verbal praise and other such rewards. Research has shown that rewards may produce desired results in the short term, but are ineffective in the long haul and in fact do lasting harm.

Sarah Andrews is an AMI Primary Trainer and Oregon Registry Master Trainer, holds a M.Ed. in Education, a B.A. in Music Performance, and both Primary and Elementary-level AMI Montessori diplomas. Sarah currently contributes at Montessori Institute Northwest in classroom lectures, presentations, guiding practice sessions, as well as parent education, teacher development, and community education.

Child Presentation Day at the Elementary

Lower Elementary– 2-3pm

Upper Elementary– 1-3pm

Come to the elemetary campus and learn, first hand from the children, some more about Elementary Montessori materials and lessons. Fascinating! Illuminating! Get lessons from the children and let them teach you a thing or two.

This is one of the most enlightening events of the year and the best way to understand, first hand, the Elementary Montessori Experience. All are welcome!

Montessori Institute Northwest: Open House

Come see MINW’s specially prepared environments for children and meet some of their current students. Have a tour of their facility and see presentations of Montessori materials at the Assistants to Infancy, Primary, and Elementary levels. Montessori DVDs will also be shown so you can learn more about Montessori education for all ages.
